Protect your child with the HPV vaccine

The HPV (human papilloma virus) vaccine prevents 5 types of cancer, including oral cancers.  The HPV vaccine is safe and effective.

  • Boys and girls ages 9-12 should get two doses of the HPV vaccine before they turn 13 years old.
  • Children who are 15 or older and have not been vaccinated will need three doses to get complete protection against the HPV virus.
  • The HPV virus can also prevent cancers in adults.  Adults up to age 45 who have not been vaccinated will need three doses to get complete protection against the HPV virus.
